JAKARTA, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Central bank of Indonesia was optimistic that banking credit will accelerate at a faster pace this year as commodities prices expected to recover in months to come.

Governor of the lender Agus Martowardojo disclosed on Friday that he was upbeat over a 10 to 12 percent loan growth by year end, higher than 9 percent last year.

Rising demand and prices of global commodities, the major exported product from Indonesia, and rebound on demand of credit by firms at the second half were expected to accelerate loan growth this year, Martowardojo said.

"We predict prices of commodities, the main exported products of Indonesia, will improve, so that it will spur economy," he said.

Indonesia is the world's major exporter of thermal coal, crude palm oil, cocoa, rubber and copper.

The country's economy is forecast to accelerate at a faster pace of 5.2 percent this year from 5.02 percent last year.
