PARIS, Aug.1 (Xinhua) -- New wildfires reported on Tuesday in France's southern districts had consumed hectares of forests and triggered the evacuation of residents, according to local reports.
Two fires broke out in Bouches-du-Rhone where 230 firemen are battling to tame the blaze which had consumed 20 hectares and prompted the evacuation of many towns mainly in Istres, news channel BFMTV reported.
In Cabris, 275 firefighters and three Canadair water bombers were deployed to contain flames in Cabris, in Alpes-Maritime district.
According to regional authorities, the blaze is under control. It consumed 53 hectares of forest.
Similar fire was reported in the Gard district.
Last week, huge blazes hit French southeastern region, the country's second main tourism destination after Paris. They had ravaged 10,000 hectares, twice the annual average of the last 10 years.
Risks of fire in the zone, notably in the Var department, remain very high on expected new wave of heat and dry weather. In southeast France, 12 districts were put on orange alert due to heat wave, according to meteo France, the country's meteorological service.
