PARIS, July 31 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.73 percent, or 37.62 points, to close at 5,093.77 points.
Thirty-two of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.
French industrial group Legrand tumbled 4.48 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French company producing ophthalmic lenses, Essilor Intl. was down 4.03 percent. European multinational aerospace and defence corporation Airbus edged down 2.46 percent.
French water and waste group Veolia Environment rose 2.03 percent, the top gainer of the day. Steel giant ArcelorMittal gained 0.77 percent. French luxury goods holding company Kering was up 0.70 percent. Enditem
