TOKYO, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The jobless rate in Japan dropped to 2.8 percent in June from 3.1 percent a month earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said in a report on Friday.

Availability of jobs in Japan rose to 1.51 in the recording month from 1.49 a month earlier, which is the highest available level since February 1974, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said separately.

The figure translates to mean that for every 100 job seekers there were 151 available positions.

The job-to-applicant ratio, meanwhile, stood at 1.01 for regular workers, marking the first time the ratio has risen above 1 since comparable data became available.
