BRATISLAVA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The car maker PSA Group Slovakia produced more than 181,500 cars in the first half of 2017, which amounts to year-on-year growth of 1.6 percent, company spokesperson Peter Svec confirmed on Thursday.

The flagship product driving the production portfolio was the Citroen C3, exclusively manufactured in Trnava. According to Svec, the Citroen C3 made up more than 70 percent of the entire half-year production.

"The Peugeot 208 model, production of which began in 2012, made up more than 20 percent of half-year production. Some 10 percent was claimed by the Citroen C3 Picasso in the same period, the last unit of which left the assembly line in Trnava on June 12, 2017," said Svec.

A key project in the first half of 2017 was the launch of a fourth weekend shift, which led to the creation of more than 800 new jobs and thus boosted the overall number of employees to 4,300. Enditem
