KIEV, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's Dynamo Kiev defeated Switzerland's Young Boys 3-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round on Wednesday night.
The hosts enjoyed a bright start in the match held at the Olympic stadium in Kiev and Andriy Yarmolenko hit the target only 15 minutes into the game.
Kiev's lead was doubled by Dieumerci Mbokani in the 34th minute and Dynamo dominated the game for the rest of the first half.
After the break, the Swiss team took control of the ball and Christian Fassnacht made it 2-1 in the 91st minute.
Nevertheless, the Ukrainian side reacted quickly -- midfielder Denys Garmash extended the hosts' lead to 3-1, scoring in the dying seconds of the game.
The second leg of the Champions League qualifier is scheduled for August 2 in Bern.
