SOFIA, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The Bulgarian cabinet on Wednesday decided to send 50 more military personnel to participate in the NATO-led Resolute Support mission (RSM) to Afghanistan, the government Information Service said in a statement.

Currently, the Balkan country has a 110-member contingent in the RSM, the statement said.

However, "the complicated military-political situation in Afghanistan has forced NATO military bodies to reconsider the composition of the forces involved in the mission and to call on the participating countries to increase their contribution," the statement said.

Meanwhile, in the area where Bulgarian troops perform their duties, reconstruction and extension of the facilities are carried out, as a result of which the guard posts will be significantly increased.

Therefore, the strength of the Bulgarian contingent will reach 160 troops. Bulgaria, a NATO member since 2004, has been participating in the NATO-led missions in Afghanistan since 2002.
