ULAN BATOR, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Some 1,100 peacekeepers from 26 countries took part in the annual multinational peacekeeping exercise code-named "Khaan Quest-2017," which kicked off on Sunday at the training center of the Armed Forces of Mongolia in Tavan Tolgoi, 60 km from Ulan Bator.

Khaltmaa Battulga, president of Mongolia and commander-in-chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces, stressed that Mongolia will continue its contribution to strengthening security and peace in the world during the "Khaan Quest-2017" exercise from July 23 to Aug. 2.

This year's event is specific in field maneuvers at the level of military units and information processing training to repel cyberattacks.

The peacekeeping exercise has been held annually since 2003 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia in conjunction with the U.S. Pacific Command and the U.N. Peace Support Fund to support stability and security in Asia.

In 2006, the peacekeeping maneuvers turned into large-scale international peacekeeping exercises, with approximately 2,000 soldiers from 47 countries participating in "Khaan Quest-2016."
