ABUJA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed following two suicide blasts which rocked two internally displaced persons (IDP) camps near Nigeria's northeastern city of Maiduguri late Sunday, an official source told Xinhua on Monday.

Some 15 people were also injured in the blasts, the source, who pleaded for anonymity, said.

According to the source, two female suicide bombers carried out the attacks in Dalori, about 4 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital of the northeastern state of Borno. Most of the IDPs in the camps had gone to bed at the time of the blasts.

Security officials in Borno State are yet to comment on the attacks.

Terror group Boko Haram is most likely to be responsible for the attacks, local residents said.

On January 30, 2016, Boko Haram fighters killed at least 86 people and injured 62 others in an attack on a village in Dalori.

Boko Haram has launched more than 40 attacks which have resulted in civilian deaths so far in 2017, according to media reports.

Last month, Maiduguri was jolted by bombings during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Boko Haram has been blamed for the deaths of more than 20,000 people and displacing of 2.3 million others in Nigeria since their insurgency started in 2009.
