ALGIERS, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Algerian counterterrorism troops on Thursday discovered two home-made bombs and detonation tools, said a statement of Defense Ministry on Friday.

The source specified that the bombs were found in the province of Tipaza, 70 km western Algiers, and the province of Sidi Belabes, 380 km western Algiers.

The statement did not specify whether these explosive stuffs belong to terrorist groups, given that the dense woods of the western region of Algeria are still hosting few number of terrorists.

Located in a region plagued by unprecedented security and political instability, Algeria faces ongoing terrorist threats.

A few militants affiliated to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and recently-established IS affiliate groups are still taking refuge in the dense woods in the north, and remote desert areas near troubled Libya and Mali.
