LONDON, July 21 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.47 percent, or 34.96 points, to close at 7,452.91 points.
Shire, a global specialty biopharmaceutical company, soared 1.86 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. ConvaTec Group and Next increased by 1.66 percent and 1.16 percent, respectively.
The British multinational security services company G4S was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.17 percent. Micro Focus International, a British software and information technology business, dropped 2.53 percent. Smiths Group, a British multinational diversified engineering business, fell 2.49 percent.
