BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- China's naval forces are fully aware of any situation occurring in waters around China, said the Ministry of National Defense on Thursday.
The ministry made the remarks in response to a report from Taiwan that when aircraft carrier Liaoning's formation sailed through the Taiwan Strait, a U.S. destroyer also sailed into the strait and tracked the Chinese formation.
"We have noted the report in question. China's armed forces have kept monitoring that sea area from the very beginning and have measures to effectively deal with any situation," said the ministry.
