LONDON, July 19 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.55 percent, or 40.69 points, to close at 7,430.91 points.
Sage Group, a British software company, soared 2.68 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Barratt Developments and Persimmon increased by 2.44 percent and 2.35 percent, respectively.
The British postal service company Royal Mail was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.75 percent. Paddy Power Betfair, a large British bookmaking business, dropped 2.06 percent. Kingfisher, the Europe's leading home improvement retailer, fell 1.62 percent. Enditem
