German shares gain 0.17 pct Wednesday

FRANKFURT, July 19 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 21.66 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 12,452.05 points.

German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.04 percent. Multinational software corporation SAP and chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer rose by 1.26 percent and 1.15 percent respectively.

German banking and financial services provider Commerzbank lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 2.98 percent. Marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities Deutsche Boerse group and renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical went down by 1.31 percent and 1.10 percent respectively.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most-traded share with a turnover of 309.86 million euros (357.36 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
