SKOPJE, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Macedonian small and medium enterprises (SMEs), having 10-250 employees and operating for at least two years, now have a chance to hire foreign experts and enhance their capacities and know-how, Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Koco Angjusev said at a conference Monday.

This is a project aimed at helping Macedonian companies to raise their capacities and knowledge in order to be more competitive at the global markets. The essence is know-how transfer from foreign experts towards raising the level of technology use, Angjusev said.

He explained that this was the third call for hiring foreign experts in domestic companies while he stressed that Macedonian SMEs could apply till July 29.

So far, 96 companies have used this service while surveys show that 78 percent of companies are satisfied with the measure and 90 percent of them would take part in the project again.

Angjusev also said that foreign experts who worked with Macedonian companies had noted that companies here lacked proper operating structure, competences were not delegated, meaning that the corporate management mentality needed to be raised at a higher level.

Further on, the vice premier highlighted that Macedonian government's intention was to put Macedonian companies on an equal footing with foreign ones regarding subsidizing, along with the continuation of projects contributing to the increase of competitiveness of domestic firms.
