DUBAI, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's President al-Bashir visited the United Arab Emirates on Monday in bid to step up brotherly ties and enhance all-round cooperation, UAE state news agency WAM reported.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces met with al-Bashir and discussed issues of common concern.
According to the report, the two sides reviewed "the challenges facing the region, especially extremism, terrorism and regional interventions aimed at destabilizing the region and undermining the process of building and development, as well as discussing the most effective ways to combat terrorist organizations and their sources of funding."
The Sudanese president and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince also discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
During the meeting, they discussed the distinguished "brotherly relations" between the two countries and their cooperation in various political, economic and developmental aspects and ways to develop this cooperation for a broader and more welcoming horizon.
The UAE and Sudan are both part of a Saudi-led pan-Arab military coalition which has been fighting Iranian-backed Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen since March 26 2015.
The coalition supports Yemen's internationally recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
