Chinese duo qualify for girls' triple jump final at youth games

NAIROBI, July 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Tan Qiujiao on Friday topped the table of the girls' triple jump event with a leap of 13.16 meters to qualify for the final on the third day of the World Under 18 Athletics Championships taking place in Nairobi.

Zukia Hernandez of Cuba place second with a jump of 12.92 meters, followed by Bulgaria's Aleksandra Nacheva who leaped 12.76 meters.

Tan's teammate Pan Youqi placed in 9th position to also book a place in the final slated for Sunday.

In the girls' heptathlon, Liu Jingyi is lying in 11th position after amassing a total of 827 points after she registered a time of 15.11 seconds in the 100m hurdles.

Maria Vicente is heading the table with 1015 points after she clocked 13.74 seconds in the same event.

In the 200m qualifying rounds, Tao Yanan finished third in her heat in a time of 24.58 seconds to advance to the semifinals.

Her teammate Zhu Cuiwei missed out on qualifying for the semifinals after she finished in 5th position in a time of 24.89 seconds.
