Macao's forex reserves reach 19.80 bln USD

MACAO, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Foreign exchange reserves of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) reached 159.2 billion patacas (19.80 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of June, the SAR's monetary watchdog said on Friday.

The preliminary estimate of Macao SAR's foreign exchange reserves at the end of June increased by 4.3 percent from the revised value of 152.7 billion patacas (19.02 billion dollars) at the end of May, the Monetary Authority of Macao SAR announced in a press release.

The trade-weighted effective exchange rate index for the pataca dropped 1.17 points month-to-month, but rose 0.99 points year-on-year to 106.5 in June 2017, implying that overall speaking, the exchange rate of the pataca declined against the currencies of Macao's major trading partners on a monthly basis but increased on an annual basis.
