NEW DELHI, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Indian authorities Thursday said they have arrested an American in the southern state of Telanagana for his involvement in a drug racket.

"We have arrested U.S. citizen Dundu Anish, who is a former NASA scientist, and an Indian businessman, in the drug racket from state capital Hyderabad. Earlier, 10 people were arrested in the racket that was busted last week," an official of the excise department said.

"We have recovered 16 units of LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) from possession of the 29-year-old U.S. citizen. Similar substances were also recovered from the possession of the Indian businessman Ritul Agrawal. The arrests took place based on a tip-off."

Lysergic acid diethylamide or LSD is a psychedelic drug known for its psychological effects.

The duo have been taken into custody for questioning. "We will interrogate the arrested accused to get more information about the drug racket that has been active in the city for the past two years," said the official.

The drug racket, which was busted in Hyderabad on July 6, found school and college students, besides techies and members of the film industry, were buying and using drugs in a network that used social media to spread.
