LOS ANGELES, July 13 (Xinhua) -- A phoned-in bomb threat at University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) has prompted evacuations of residents from several campus dorms Wednesday night, according to the City News Service.

"Bomb threat at Sunset Recreation (Center). Residents are requested to remain indoors unless otherwise instructed. Avoid the area until further notice," UCLA tweeted just after 10 p.m. local time Wednesday (0500 GMT Thursday).

Photos from the scene showed thousands of residents have been evacuated after the bomb threat to Drake Stadium, home of the UCLA Bruins soccer and track and field teams.

"Situation is still active," officials tweeted around 10:40 p.m. local time (0540 GMT Thursday) to instruct residents in UCLA housing to evacuate to the outdoor stadium for an unspecified emergency and asked people to share the information.

No injuries have been reported.
