TOKYO, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged higher Thursday morning after the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a new record high overnight, but the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar saw gains capped.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 30.50 points, or 0.15 percent, from Wednesday to 20,128.88.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.59 points, or 0.16 percent, to 1,621.93.

Air transportation, mining, and service-related stocks comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
