ATHENS, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Greece's ruling Radical Left SYRIZA party conveyed a congratulatory message to Beijing this week for the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) marked on July 1.
"On the occasion of the 96th anniversary from its founding, SYRIZA congratulates the Communist Party of China. The Chinese communists led the inspiring and heroic struggle of the Chinese people against colonialism, imperialism and humiliating foreign domination," Yannis Bournous, member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA, spokesperson for European and International Affairs, said in a written statement to Xinhua in Athens dated July 7.
"The CPC has been successful in its historical task of lifting the people of China out of poverty and underdevelopment. Our task today is to work with China to face the emerging regional and global challenges and help build a world of peace, international cooperation and shared prosperity," SYRIZA's representative stressed.
