BERLIN, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Eight vehicles were set on fire at a Porsche dealership in Hamburg on Thursday, just a day before the G20 summit which will be held in the city on July 7 and 8.

A police speaker told press on Thursday that fire accelerants were discovered at the site of what authorities believe was an arson attack.

The Hamburg police assumes that there was a link between the coming G20 summit and the incident. As yet, there is no trace of the perpetrators and the extent of the damage is unknown.

More than 100,000 protestors are expected to arrive in Hamburg for the two-day summit.

The German authorities estimated that roughly 8,000 of those joining demonstrations are potentially-violent and have warned that spontaneous and planned attacks on security forces and municipal infrastructure were likely.
