HANOI, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's national junior chess championship started on Wednesday in central highlands Da Lat city, with the participation of 867 players.
The players aged 6-20 from 37 cities and provinces nationwide are vying for 128 sets of medals at the tournament which will last till July 17, according to the Vietnam Chess Federation.
Pham Tran Gia Phuc bagged home a gold in the under-8 rapid chess event of the first World Cadets Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships in June in Belarus.
