ISLAMABAD, July 5 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and 22 others injured in a road accident in Pakistan's eastern province of Punjab on Wednesday morning, police said.
According to police, the incident took place when a passenger bus collided head-on with a tractor in Layyah district of Punjab province.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site following the report of the accident.
Seriously wounded people have been referred to a bigger hospital in the neighboring district of Multan, where hospital sources said some of the 14 injured people they have received are in critical condition.
Local media quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the accident occurred when the bus with an estimated 50 passengers on board collided head-on with a tractor moving in opposite direction while it was trying to overtake another vehicle.
