SKOPJE, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations will assist Macedonia to tackle its land consolidation issue, EU Ambassador to Skopje Samuel Zbogar told reporters Tuesday.
The Macedonian government should adapt the laws in order to use EU experiences and FAO expertise in land consolidation, Zbogar said at a conference.
The EU official said Macedonia should address the issue of large land fragmentation as soon as possible.
Such large fragmentation complicates farming, prevents modernization and the use of modern technologies, and negatively affects competitiveness and the country's promotion at EU markets, Zbogar declared.
