BEIRUT, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Another large fire broke out at a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon's Bekaa town of Ber Elias on early Tuesday, killing one child and wounding eight others.

The fire broke out before dawn on Tuesday due to a gas leak from a tent. The Lebanese civil defense has put out the fire and Lebanese Red Cross has transported the victims to nearby hospitals.

The refugee camp consists of about 100 tents with around 800 Syrian refugees living there.

This is the second large fire ramping the Syrian refugees during the past 48 hours. On Sunday, a large fire broke out at a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon's east Bekaa town of Qob Elias, which left one child dead and seven injured.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Lebanon now hosts around 1.1 million Syrians who have fled their war-torn country since the rebellion against President Bashar al-Assad in March 2011.

The Lebanese government estimates the number to be around 1.5 million.
