TOKYO, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning as upbeat manufacturing data suggested U.S. economic growth and encouraged buying.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 85.41 points, or 0.43 percent, from Monday to 20,141.21.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 3.45 points, or 0.21 percent, to 1,617.86.
Marine transportation, transportation equipment and mining-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
