PARIS, June 29 (Xinhua) -- After spending a spotlight season on loan in Ligue 1 side Marseille, French forward Bafetimbi Gomis on Thursday signed a three-year deal with Turkish outfit Galatasaray.

The 31-year-old Gomis has fared below par since joining Premier League side Swansea City in 2014 following a five-year stint in Lyon. However, he rode on hot momentum in the 2016-17 season, scoring a career-best 20 league goals for the southern French club.

Swansea City could receive a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros. According to the Galatasaray club, Gomis' annual salary reached 3.35 million euros, excluding bonuses from the team's success in the league and European competitions.

"I'm ready to help Galatasaray win titles," said Gomis during the signing.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, although Marseille showed great interest in making Gomis' deal permanent, they could not match the salary offered by the Turkish side.

Galatasaray were expected to have a spending spree on the off-season market after just finishing fourth in the league last season.

Gomis will undoutedly be a huge boost for their attacking line as their German forward Lukas Podolski has made a move to Japan's league and Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder seems to have an uncertain future.

They will also recruit the Moroccan midfielder Younes Belhanda from Dynamo Kyiv.
