BERLIN, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The "Royal Blues" completed the transfer of defender Pablo Insua from Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna, both clubs announced on Thursday.

Schalke reinforced their defence with the signing of centre-back Pablo Insua, who penned a four-year deal to stay with the "Knappen" until June 2021.

"Pablo Insua is a tactically well-trained player. He can move the ball quickly and has a good anticipation. In addition, he is a clean tackler," Schalke's head coach Domenico Tedesco said.

The new arrival is a home-grown talent from Deportivo La Coruna's youth. Insua made his first-team debut against Athletic Bilbao on November 2012. In the summer 2015, Insua was loaned to second division side CD Leganes where he played until lately.

"This is a big step in my career. Schalke is a great club and well known in Europe. I am looking forward to the upcoming tasks," Insua said.

The 23-year-old centre-back, who made overall 130 appearances and provided five goals across Spain's top two divisions, received the jersey number 3.

Schalke completed the last season on the 10th place and missed the international business. They will kick-off their Bundesliga campaign 2017-2018 on home soil against runner up Leipzig on August 19. Enditem
