SKOPJE, June 28 (Xinhua) -- About 59 percent of Macedonian citizens believe that the new government led by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev will improve their lives and bring positive developments here, a survey showed Wednesday.

The organizers of the BRIMA survey which took place in June, told reporters at a news conference that a total of 59 percent of the respondents expected the new Social Democrat-led coalition government would improve people's lives, while 27 percent were sceptical about the government's future work.

The BRIMA survey showed that 62 percent of the respondents believed Zaev was a good choice for prime minister while 29 percent said it was a poor one.

Compared to a March survey, the number of respondents who believed the country was moving in the wrong direction had lowered from 76 to 49 percent, they said.

On the other hand, the survey results showed that the number of those who believed the country was moving in the right direction increased from 15 to 42 percent.

In terms of trust in the new government, 57 percent of the respondents said they had confidence in the new government, while 34 percent did not.

Meanwhile, the results also showed that the majority of ethnic Albanians had positive expectations, followed by members of other ethnic communities, while ethnic Macedonians had the least positive expectations.

After several months of political stalemate, Macedonia's parliament approved the new government headed by Zaev in late May. Zaev has promised economic prosperity, EU and NATO integration for Macedonia, and zero tolerance for corruption.
