UNITED NATIONS, June 27 (Xinhua) -- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday condemned the series of suicide bombing attacks on June 25-26 in Maiduguri, capital of Nigeria's Borno State.

"The Secretary-General extends his condolences to the people and Government of Nigeria for the loss of life. He wishes a quick recovery to those injured and hopes that those responsible for this act will be swiftly brought to justice," said Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, in a statement.

The Secretary-General reiterated the United Nations' support to the Government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

Suicide bombers reportedly killed 10 people and wounded 13 others in multiple blasts in northeast Maiduguri, the latest in a spate of attacks in the city worst hit by the Islamist militant Boko Haram insurgency.
