LONDON, June 26 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.31 percent, or 22.67 points, to close at 7,446.80 points.
Whitbread, a multinational hotel, coffee shop and restaurant company, soared 2.17 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. International Consolidated Airlines Group and Royal Bank of Scotland Group increased by 2.09 percent and 1.71 percent, respectively.
The Mexican-based precious metals mining company, Fresnillo, was the worst performer of the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.12 percent. Antofagasta, a Chilean mining group, dropped 2.72 percent. A British sub-prime lender, Provident Financial, fell 1.68 percent. Enditem
