PYONGYANG, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a mass rally here Sunday to mark the Day of Anti-U.S. Struggle.
Senior members of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea and high-level government officials joined representatives from all walks of life to angrily denounce the United States for starting the Korean War on June 25, 1950. They also held a public procession following the rally.
Speakers at the event accused the United States of using "all kinds of the cruelest methods and means to commit an unheard-of holocaust and vandalism" and making "wholesale use of germ and chemical weapons prohibited by international law," according to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The KCNA also cited the participants in the event as saying that the atrocities against the Korean people "were recorded in history as scars never to be healed."
Similar mass rallies were held in every province in the DPRK to mark the day of struggle against the United States, added the KCNA.
The Korean War broke out 67 years ago and ended in 1953 with an armistice, leaving the peninsula virtually in a state of war ever since.
