BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Political advisors Thursday called for more funding and better managerial standards for catering to ensure food quality on campus.

These suggestions were raised during a bi-weekly consultation session presided over by Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the top political advisory body.

Embezzlement of money allocated to cover students' meals should be dealt with strictly and nutrition standards should be met, according to a statement released after the meeting.

Political advisors said data related to nutritional improvement programs and the tender and bid process should be made public, and supervision of such programs should improve.

More should also be done to educate students and their parents about health and nutrition, they said.
