BEIJING -- The State Council, China's cabinet, Wednesday announced its decision to facilitate the healthy development of the sharing economy, amid its efforts to boost mass innovation and entrepreneurship.

According to the State Council executive meeting chaired by Premier Li Keqiang, to facilitate supply-side structural reform, it is important to adapt to the latest global technology and industrial revolution, push forward the sharing economy, strive for optimal allocation of resources using the Internet, reduce overcapacity and foster growth momentum.

WASHINGTON -- China on Wednesday called for an early resumption of talks on the Korea Peninsula nuclear issue and reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the issue through negotiations.

China and the United States began to talk about diplomatic and security issues on Wednesday. The dialogue was one of four high-level mechanisms announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump during their first meeting in Florida in April.

ADDIS ABABA -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reiterated China's commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with Africa in order to assist the continent to achieve independent and sustainable development, and eliminate poverty at an early date.

The Foreign Minister made the remarks on Wednesday at the opening of the China-Africa high-level dialogue and think tank forum on poverty reduction and common development, at the AU headquarters in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa.

SHANGHAI -- The second phase of the Cross-border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) will be launched in Shanghai to promote the global use of the Chinese currency and the Belt and Road Initiative.

The upcoming launch of CIPS Phase II in Shanghai will further boost the building of the international financial center there, China's central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan said at the two-day Lujiazui Forum 2017 which ended Wednesday. Zhou did not provide further information.

BEIJING -- China Wednesday vowed joint efforts with ASEAN countries to ensure the success of the China-ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting in August and promote peace and stability in the South China Sea.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks in response to a question regarding recent comments from Philippine Assistant Foreign Secretary for ASEAN Affairs Ma. Hellen De La Vega.
