The purpose is to raise understanding and exchange of information development on "one map one community one nation," to build online systems for closer integration between government and private sectors.

The meeting highlighted the role of GIS to enable everyone to easily discover, use and share maps from any device, anywhere and anytime. The benefits of a single shared map include authoritative data, high-quality mapping, improved visualizations, spatial analysis and models and rich applications.

It also allows greater sharing and collaboration for government operation centers and clarifies administrative boundaries, transportation, hydrology, land parcels, forest boundaries and other topographic features.
