JAKARTA, June 20 (Xinhua) -- National police of Indonesia has taken measures for the possibility of attacks on scores of vital facilities and police offices launched by militants ahead of Islamic festivity.

National police spokesman Inspector General Setyo Wasisto disclosed on Tuesday that an operation has been undertaken to counter the potential of the terrorist threats.

"This is prepared for the possible strikes on vital objects and police stations," he said at the police headquarters.

National Police chief General Tito Karnavian ordered the police's anti-terror squad of Densus 88 to intensify observation and monitoring on the movement of the terrorist cells prior to the Islamic festivity of Eid al-Fitr which falls on June 26 and 27.

"Take a preemptive act, do a quick respond should it is found an indication of the movement linked to terrorist cells," the general stressed.

Indonesia has suffered from several suicide bombings launched by militants affiliated with the IS terrorist group.

The latest strike was the suicide strike in the country's capital of Jakarta on May 24 that killed three police officers.
