TIRANA, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Reaching the election standards is of paramount importance for Albania as that would be a way to speed up the country's European Union (EU) integration process, Klement Zguri, head of Albania's Central Election Commission (CEC) said Sunday in a press release.
In a press statement, CEC chairman appealed to leaders of political parties to avoid incidents and help to increase public confidence in elections.
The political parties here should work together in order to ensure that the June 25 parliamentary elections will be "unquestionably free and fair" in line with the international election standards by avoiding incidents and tension and increase public confidence in the electoral process, Zguri said.
Zguri also called on security and law enforcement agencies not to engage in political activities and campaign events, but fulfill their duty and act transparently to shed light on any potential event.
