China, Brazil to increase cooperation on BRICS summit preparation

BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira here Friday and both sides pledged to work together to prepare for the BRICS summit in September.

China will host the Ninth BRICS Summit in September in Xiamen, Fujian Province.

As developing countries and important emerging economies, both China and Brazil should implement the consensus reached by their leaders, link development strategies and step up practical cooperation, Li said.

Li called on two countries to increase cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership.

China hopes that Brazil will play a positive role in China-Latin America cooperation, Li said.

Aloysio Nunes Ferreira said Brazil supports the upcoming BRICS summit in China and is willing to cooperate more with China in various fields.
