TOKYO, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Friday morning as investor sentiment was buoyed by the yens retreat against the U.S. dollar following strong U.S. manufacturing data.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 105.33 points, or 0.53 percent, from Thursday to 19,937.15.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 8.23 points, or 0.52 percent, to 1,596.32.
Marine transportation, securities and machinery-linked stocks comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
