ALGIERS, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel on Thursday held talks with Advisor at the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Fares al-Mazrouei, as the developments of the Gulf crisis was in the agenda.

According to a statement of the Algerian Foreign Ministry, "the UAE minister on this occasion assessed the latest developments in the Gulf region," while Messahel reiterated "the Algerian position expressed since the outbreak of this crisis, urging for settling differences and conflicts through dialogue."

Earlier on Thursday, Mesahel held talks with visiting Qatar's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

Al-Muraikhi described the Algerian position on the crisis as "honorable, as being the first country to issue a statement calling for dialogue."

On June 5, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt and Yemen announced cutting relations with Qatar for national security causes, as they accuse Doha of supporting terrorism. Qatar, for its part, said such steps are "unjustified."
