Russia launches cargo ship to International Space Station

MOSCOW, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Russia successfully launched a supply ship to the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday, the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities said.

The Progress MS-06 cargo ship, carried by a Soyuz-2.1a rocket, was launched at 12:20 p.m. Moscow time (0920 GMT) from the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan, it said in a statement.

Progress will deliver about 2.5 tons of various cargoes, including dried cargo, propellant, water, compressed gases, as well as several nanosatellites, the statement added.

The cargo ship is expected to dock with the ISS at 2:42 p.m. Moscow time (1142 GMT) on Friday.

The current crew of the ISS include Russian cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin and U.S. astronauts Jack Fischer and Peggy Whitson.
