ISTANBUL, June 10 (Xinhua) -- More than 200 people on Saturday gathered at a park in central Istanbul to raise awareness of living well to mark the Global Wellness Day.

Dozens of activities, including sports events, yoga and workshops on inner health and positive thinking, were hosted in Kucukciftlik Park in Istanbul's Besiktas district under the main theme of "one day can change your whole life."

"People in general think that healthy living habits are all about luxury, eating healthily and doing exercises," said Belgin Aksoy, founder of the Global Wellness Day.

"Wellness, however, is completely related to being physically, socially and mentally balanced," she told Xinhua.

The Global Wellness Day was created in 2012 in Istanbul as a social project to promote a healthier and better life and has spread throughout the world.

"Now it has been marked in about 100 countries in more than 4,000 locations in the world," said Aksoy.
