VIENNA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 40 percent of the 1.6 million migrants living in Austria at the start of 2016 resided in the capital Vienna, a report from the Austrian Integration Fund (OeIF) revealed on Friday.

This equates to just under 635,000 people. In comparison the state of Upper Austria comes next, with about 13 percent of the country's total migrants, or 211,500 people.

The most common countries of origin of the migrants were Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Turkey.

Some 43 percent of the those who moved to Austria in 2015 were from other EU or EEA countries as well as Switzerland.
