JERUSALEM, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian cars were vandalized and racist slogans were spray-painted in Jerusalem on Friday, in a second hate attack over the past week, the police said.
The police suspect that the attack, in the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Safafa, was perpetrated by Israeli ultra-nationalists.
Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said that the perpetrators punched the tires of at least nine cars early in the morning.
They also sprayed graffiti, reading: "Price Tag" and "Kahana was right," referring to the Rabbi Meir Kahana, whose extreme ultra-nationalist Kach movement was outlawed in 1994 before he was assassinated by a Muslim in 1990 in New York.
According to Samri, the police launched an investigation but has yet to apprehend any suspects.
On Monday, also in Jerusalem, Palestinian cars were vandalized and racist slogans were spray-painted in two separated hate attacks.
Far-right Israelis have carried out thousands of the so-called "price tag" attacks over the past years. The attacks include violence against Palestinians in the West Bank and Israel and vandalism of mosques, churches, cemeteries, and personal property. Most of the incidents remain unsolved as the law enforcement authorities usually fail to arrest and charge any suspects.
Israel occupied the West Bank in the 1967 Mideast war and had controlled it ever since, a move denounced by the international community.
