HANOI, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's cosmetic market, valued at some 2 billion U.S. dollars, grows around 30 percent a year, the Vietnam of Essential Oils, Aromas and Cosmetics Association said on Friday.

On average, each Vietnamese person annually spends more than 20 dollars on cosmetics.

Foreign cosmetic brands, mostly from South Korea, the European Union, Japan and Thailand, currently dominate the Vietnamese market, the association said, noting that merely 10 percent of the market is shared by local firms whose products are mainly skincare ones.

By the end of last year, Vietnam had a population of 92.7 million people, with nearly 47 million females, accounting for 50.6 percent of the total, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
