MOSCOW, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Russia on Thursday called on the leadership of the U.S.-led coalition to take a more responsible approach when planning airstrikes in Syria.

"As we have repeatedly stressed, such ill-conceived actions exacerbate the suffering of peaceful Syrians and the number of victims among them is growing every day," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing.

Forty-three civilians, mostly women and children, were killed Saturday in an air raid by the coalition near the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, and the coalition's missile and bomb strikes Monday against IS (Islamic State) troops leaving Raqqa killed more than 30 people, including civilians, said Zakharova.

According to preliminary data, about 200 Syrians were killed in a month from airstrikes by the coalition in and around Raqqa, the de facto capital of IS, she added.

Such an "irresponsible military tactic" is unacceptable for an alliance calling itself anti-terrorist, especially when its actions are carried out bypassing the decisions of the UN Security Council and without the consent of the legitimate Syrian government, Zakharova said.
