LOS ANGELES, June 7 (Xinhua) -- "Shanghai: The City of Innovation" photo exhibition opened here Wednesday, giving local Americans a chance to learn more about the metropolis and China.
Around one hundred people including County officials and guests from the local community attended the opening ceremony. The photo exhibition presented 80 pictures shot by photographers from different countries who visited Shanghai last year.
"American people's recognition of China is still limited. So we should do more promotions like this to enhance mutual understanding," Xu Wei, spokesman for the Shanghai municipal government, said.
Nick Ut, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer who visited Shanghai last year, shared his feelings of excitement. "I see an amazing city in Shanghai. The food is good. People are friendly. I took many pictures of them."
An American photographer called Michael Nilson also had a good impression of Shanghai. "People are very friendly, very hospitable. The diversity of the city is amazing and it seems to be very well run." The photo exhibition will last for a month, and will be held in different venues across Los Angeles.
