BERLIN, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Germany's industrial production recovered in April after a decrease in March, the Federal Statistical Office reported Thursday.
German industrial production in April grew by 0.8 percent from March on a price, seasonally and working day adjusted basis, outpacing markets' expectation of 0.5 percent growth.
March's figure was corrected to a 0.1 percent decrease.
In April, the 5.7 percent surge in energy production contributed most to the growth, but production in construction contracted 0.1 percent.
Excluding energy and construction, industrial production gained 0.4 percent.
"Industrial production remains on an upward trend," the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy said in a statement. "Solid developments in orders and revenue as well as excellent confidence levels suggest the upturn will continue in industry as well as construction."
